Boyan on Tour
Boyan on Tour was developed as an outreach of Boyan in 2012. BOT was created top allow our senior dancers the opportunity to pursue dancing at a more serious and challenging level. BOT successfully completed their first tour in the summer of 2013 with a performance in Saskatoon and a tour to the Eastern United States in 2013.
BOT consists of 18 talented dancers at the direction of four instructors. Their performance tour of 2013 featured twelve unique and dynamic pieces of choreography with music and costumes from various regions of the Ukraine. Their tour included a send off performance (FantaZia!) in Saskatoon, The Concert on the Green in Redding, Connecticut as well as a performance at the Ukrainian American Cultural Association in Whippany, New Jersey, teaming up with Whippany's own Iskra Ukrainian Dance Ensemble. With many years of experience at competitions and performing locally 2013 was the first year that Boyan took it's dancers and choreography to audiences across the border.
- One of our first fundraisers was a perogy sale. The BITs, GITS, and BOT dancers made 1795 dozen perogies in the month of December 2012 and the first week of January 2013. That is 21, 540 individual perogies. It took 660.5 hours of conbimed manpower.
- The perogies for our first perogy supper on March 1, 2013 were made by the BITs, GITs, and BOT dancers. We got together one evening and made 231 dozen (2772 perogies) in 4.5 hours.
- A BOT rehearsal is typically 3 hours per week. Half of that time at the studio involves barre, stratching, and conditioning. From May 2013 to August 2013, BOT reheased 2 nights per week.
- Three of our instructors are now married! Two of them to each other!
